Chat Room Policy
Effective 13 August 2026
Yummy chat is public, city-scoped, and social. Anyone signed in can read and post in a city’s rooms. There are no private direct messages.
The rooms
Each visible city has four public rooms: General, Yums, Vendors, and Recipes. Messages stay with that city. Do not treat chat as a private conversation.
What belongs here
- Food talk: plates, places, recipes, and neighbourhood tips.
- Kind, specific recommendations. Disagree about a dish — don’t attack a person.
- Reports of spam or abuse using the in-app report action.
What is not allowed
- Harassment, hate, threats, or sexual content involving minors.
- Spam, scams, fake giveaways, or repeated advertising.
- Illegal activity, including selling alcohol or other restricted goods to minors.
- Personal data about other people: phone numbers, home addresses, ID numbers.
- Impersonation of a restaurant, brand, or another cook.
Assume it is public
Do not share private information — yours or anyone else’s. Moderators and other signed-in users can read these rooms. History may be retained for safety and abuse review.
Moderation
We may remove messages, mute or suspend accounts, and keep records needed to investigate abuse. Decisions are made to keep the rooms usable, not to referee every food opinion.
Report and appeal
Use the report control on a message in the app. For an appeal or a safety emergency, email support@yummyapp.co.za.
